The Daily Lock

Privacy policy — The Daily Lock

Last updated: 12 October 2026

The Daily Lock is published by Gunka Studios (info@gunkastudios.com, https://gunkagames.com). This policy explains what the app does with data. It is short because the app does almost nothing.

What we collect

Nothing, on our side. We have no servers, no accounts and no analytics. We cannot watch you play, and we could not identify you if we wanted to.

The game itself works offline: each day's lock is generated inside your own phone from the date. The only time the app uses the network is to request the day's ad, and what Google processes at that moment is explained below, under "Advertising".

What stays on your device

The app stores a few things locally, using your phone's standard storage (SharedPreferences on Android, UserDefaults on iOS):

None of it leaves your device, and all of it disappears when you uninstall the app. There is no backup and no sync. You can erase all of it from Options whenever you like.

Sharing your result

If you tap "Share", the app hands a piece of text to your operating system's share sheet: the difficulty, how many tries it took you, and a link. It never includes the code. From there you decide who to send it to, and what happens to that message is up to the app you pick, not to us.

Daily reminder

If you turn it on, the app lets you know once a day that there is a new lock, and never once you have done it. These are local notifications: your own phone schedules them, with no server involved, so nobody else knows when you play or whether you have played. The reminder time is worked out on the device from when you usually play, and never leaves it. You can turn it off or pick a fixed time in Options, or remove the permission in your phone's settings.

Advertising

The app is free and shows one ad a day at most, always when you close the result screen: never during the deduction and never before you have had the share button in front of you. The web version has none at all.

Ads are served by Google AdMob. To show them, Google may process technical data such as your IP address, device and app identifiers, and your interaction with the ad — to deliver it, cap its frequency, measure it and prevent fraud. This is described in Google's own policies:

We request non-personalised ads only. We build no advertising profiles and we neither sell nor share data with anyone else.

On iOS, the app does not request App Tracking Transparency permission and therefore does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA) or track you across other companies' apps and websites.

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, a Google User Messaging Platform consent form appears before any ad is loaded. Your answer is stored on your device by that component, and you can change it whenever you like from Options ▸ Ad privacy.

There are no in-app purchases.

Children

The app is not directed at children in particular, but it collects nothing from anyone, whatever their age.

Permissions

On Android the app declares these permissions: vibration, for the feedback when you get it right or wrong; internet access and the advertising identifier, both solely for the ad; and notifications and device start-up, only for the daily reminder (the second one is there to schedule it again after the phone restarts). The only one requested at runtime is notifications, and only if you say yes to the reminder. No camera, no microphone, no location, no contacts, no files.

Changes

If this ever changes — for example, if we added advertising — this page and the date above will be updated before the version that does it is published.
